International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

About

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS™) is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers.

COVID-19 Update for prospective students

To meet the needs of students who are unable to attend the IELTS classes due to public health concerns, EduBrix has started offering online IELTS Classes (Personal and Group Tuitions) option. The class is identical in content, format and on-screen experience taken at our institute. It is taken on your own computer at home and is conducted by our expert faculty.

Qualification

IELTS is the only Secure English Language Test approved by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) for visa customers applying both outside and inside the UK. Educational institutions, employers, professional registration bodies and government immigration agencies often require proof of English language skills as part of their recruitment or admission procedures. The IELTS examination is widely accepted for these purposes.
IELTS is designed to test the language ability of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. Over 3.5 million tests are taken each year.

Test Scoring and CEFR Analysis

Test takers receive a score for each test component – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking on a scale of 1 to 9band. The individual scores are then averaged and rounded to produce an Overall Band Score. Test Report Forms are valid for two years.  For a computer-delivered test, results are released between 5–7 days. For a paper-based test, a Test Report Form is posted to test takers 13 days after their test.
The nine bands are described as follows:
